Laboratory Director
Our client, a market leader in the medical diagnostic industry, seeks to identify a competent and results-oriented individual to lead and direct a team of laboratory practitioners in the capacity of Laboratory Director.
Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology and specialty training in Hematology, Clinical Chemistry and Microbiology;

Experience in the preparation and conduct of assessments for ISO 15189 accreditation;

At least 15 years experience in a Clinical Laboratory setting with at least 10 years within a leadership position.
Requirements
- The successful candidate should possess strong analytical, people management and operations management capacity and will play a critical role in the entity’s service delivery;

Strong technical background in clinical laboratory services, including operations and quality management systems;

Dynamic leadership, strategic planning and execution;

Sound knowledge of ISO 15189 and other relevant standards;

Demonstrated experience in preparing capital and operational budgets;

Developed business development and negotiation skills;

Strong sense of personal integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality;

Strong communication, organisational and time-management skills;
-
Proficiency in Laboratory Information Systems and Tools.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Laboratory Director will have overall responsibility for leading, planning, organising and directing the laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with ISO 15189 accreditation requirements for medical laboratories. The Directors functions, will include but are not limited to:
- Providing oversight of laboratory end-to-end operations;
- Assessing the laboratory to determine effectiveness of its operation and utilisation of personnel and supplies;
- Initiating, interpreting and enforcing laboratory services policies and procedures and international and local best practices;
- Communicating with medical practitioners, patients and other stakeholders in regards to queries, test results and other expert consultations;
- Ensuring test results and other laboratory requirements are delivered within service-level and quality standards.
